  • Great breakfast”  4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW    Birch’s on the Lake is a brewhouse and supper club and is located right on the banks of Long Lake about a half mile east of the town of Long Lake. There are lots of indoor dining options here and there is also a large patio if you are interested in drinking and dining outdoors. Birch’s is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner and is also open for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.  I ate brunch here on a Saturday morning and really enjoyed my breakfast and thought it was great. I have not been here in over 20 years and used to go there when it was called Billy’s Lighthouse and I lived out that way. It kind of looks the same except for the large beer brewery vats on one end of the restaurant. I ordered the Long Lake Wild Rice Porridge with strawberries and maple cream and really liked it (it was awesome). My server recommend this breakfast and was pleased when I told her that I liked it (as it was one of her favorites). I also ordered a side a large Texas toast with homemade strawberry jelly and liked that as well.  Overall I really enjoyed my breakfast and thought the porridge was great. I did not sit on the outdoor deck since it was closed due to the cold weather but sat next to a big window and enjoyed the great view of the lake. If you are near Long Lake on a Saturday or Sunday morning I recommend that you stop here for brunch.

  • Weather- perfect I wanted to try out Birch's brunch. Had the walleye Benedict ! TO DIE F.O.R.!! Buttery goodness melt in your mouth scrumptious . My husband had the prime rib Benedict , looked good, too busy chowing down mine to tell though.☺️ Bloody Mary tasty, as well as the mimosa. Very generous portions. And the service , outstanding . No rushy, rushy if you know what I'm saying. We sat on the deck looking at a calm long lake- very chill.  Visited April 2016

  • Great food and great service. Had a reservation for 9 and they had the table ready in time - on a Saturday evening. We showed up early and headed downstairs to the bar and restaurant. Great bartenders who walked us through their brew offerings. Don't miss the vanilla milk stout! At $5 a glass it's a steal! Back up the stairs we went for dinner. We encountered a wonderful choice of house specialties from which the waitress suggested the fried chicken. I know that doesn't sound awesome but let me tell you it was superb! This is not KFC folks! This chicken was PERFECT. Not only was the chicken perfect but so were the short ribs, baby backs, New York steak, bucatini and mixed grill. Be sure to order the brussel sprouts! Not to miss. Overall this was a great dinner for a great price. Certainly rivals some spots in downtown. Goes to show that there's gems to be found elsewhere.
